Electrical rubber mats now widely used in electrical panel rooms, switchboard rooms, DG rooms, substation and mandated by electrical inspectorate across the india, has grabbed huge attention from whole industry however majority of users stay confused in selection of mats.

As per IS 15652:2006 above is the thickness class classified for using with respect to voltage classes mentioned, quick query here is what about above 33kV voltage viz.66kv/132kV/220kv, there are no separate mats for these voltage classes however general practice is to use 3mm mats.
What about 6mm/8mm/10mm/12mm mats: Frequently suppliers will get indent from end users for these sizes of mats and remain in dilemma what to offer, its pretty clear as per IS standard above sizes of thickness will not come in electrical rubber mat category, if buyer choses to go for this thickness of mats it will not fall under electrical rubber mats nor it will be able to product test reports pertaining to IS 15652, only 2/2.5/3mm mats fall under standard.

Which color to choose. Standard mats used by across the building and factories is black. However blue,green,red colors are also prevalent , Data centres and various IT companies prefer blue color for aesthetic purpose, standard has not kept anything mandatory here.
